Causebox

Enhancing a Social Enterprise

Causebox

The Challenge

Each season, Causebox subscribers receive a box containing socially conscious women's products. They had seen initial success and organic growth, but needed help improving conversion rates and communicating their offerings and benefits.

The Outcome

The redesigned site uses frictionless interactions that focus on clarity, simplicity, and ease-of-use, enhanced by compelling storytelling around the Causebox social mission and impact.

Focus Areas

  • Social Equity & Justice

We helped to design and develop a new subscription website with improved messaging that would lead to increased engagement and conversions. Although Causebox had seen a lot of success and organic growth, the site conversion rates were below the target, and users were not clear around the offering or benefit. We redesigned the site with a focus on clarity, simplicity, and ease-of-use, balanced with compelling storytelling around the Causebox social mission and impact.

Bright photos, clear icons, and a clear user experience allow site visitors to easily see what's inside the current season's box, view past boxes, and subscribe.

A Story in Iconography

Clean yet elegant icons explain the process in a simple 1-2-3 format. We wanted users to understand how it works right away so they could focus on the amazing products offered by Causebox, feel confident in their purchase, and encouraged that their purchase helps improve the world.

Improved Checkout Flow

We designed an intuitive user interface to reduce the friction of checkout and increase conversion rates. Users can chose to buy annually or monthly, and manage their subscription preferences by logging into their account.

We developed a style guide to maintain brand consistency and ensure that the user experience remains cohesive throughout the entire process.

The Technical Aspects

There was a lot of development work done to ensure that the checkout process was seamless both for the logistics of running the business, and for the end user. Here are some of the technical items we implemented:

  • Created a custom Craft CMS plugin, within the Yii 1.0 framework, to integrate customer accounts and store order data.

  • Integrated with the Recurly API to allow payment processing, and sync subscription data to Craft.

  • Crafted a modern checkout front-end which interfaced with our plugin API using Javascript.

  • Built a tool which facilitated massive data transfers of old customers and subscription between their old and new system.
