Are You Bold Enough To Lead The Conversation?

Today, we’re not going to introduce any new concepts or strategies. Instead, we’re going to challenge you. 

If you follow the the playbook we outlined over the course of Season One in Designing Tomorrow — truly, actually embody it — you will become a leading social impact organization.

And once you begin to experience the benefits of this methodology for your organization, don’t just declare victory and call it a day. Use your new influence in your ecosystem to create a ripple effect of positive change.

Our challenge to you today is this: Lead the conversation.

Today’s episode is going to be a little different. Because this is the last episode in our first season of Designing Tomorrow. 

Today, I’m not going to introduce any new concepts or strategies. Instead, I’m going to challenge you. 

If you follow the the playbook we outlined over the course of season one in designing tomorrow — and I mean truly, actually embody it — you will become a leading social impact organization.

And once you begin to experience the benefits of this methodology for your organization, don’t just declare victory and call it a day. Use your new influence in your ecosystem to create a ripple effect of positive change.

My challenge to you today is this: Lead the conversation.

Lead the conversation around your issue area. Convene other partners and stakeholders. Build consensus. Organize collective impact to help shape a better future.

You now have the platform in place to educate and advocate for your cause, drive collective action, and influence those in positions of power who can affect the systems that shape our world.

The true power of building a platform is that important conversations can reach new audiences and expand cultural awareness.

Important conversations shouldn’t happen behind closed doors. They should happen out in the open to invite public discourse. Civic engagement is a prerequisite to fundamental change and social progress.

But leading the conversation does not mean dominating the conversation. Like any good conversationalist, leave room for other voices.

Speak your mind, make your case, share your perspectives, but don’t forget to listen.

Amplify the voices of others who share your values and deserve a seat at the table. Educate and inspire those who are unaware of the issues you are working to address. Challenge others in your space to think bigger, aim higher, and forge a new path forward.

Your voice and story is too important to go unnoticed. Lead the conversation and change the core structures of society and culture.

The social impact sector is charged with solving the world’s most pressing, intractable problems — problems unsolved by our governments, institutions, capitalism, and the existing systems that shape our society.

Complex problems require savvy and creative thinking. The path to success may feel like an uphill battle, and there will be times when it feels hopeless, broken, and downright disheartening. But we have to look at these challenges and see more than just the forces working against us. We also have to see the invisible path that leads to a more just and equitable world.

The world has never been more ripe for transformational change.

People are awakening to the injustices that have been swept under the rug for far too long and are eager to act. Our global, connected culture allows us to get organized, to mobilize, and to create change more rapidly and impactfully than ever before.

Don’t get left behind by a rapidly changing world. Instead, take this opportunity to scale your impact and watch the seeds you’ve planted grow and flourish.

Our call to action for you is to set aside your reservations, constraints, and excuses for why this seems impossible to achieve along with all that you already do.

Let your higher purpose inspire you to take a leap of faith. Join us in the bold pursuit to ensure that as society advances, the arc of the moral universe may indeed bend towards justice.

Remember this: Transformative change starts as a wild idea about what could be.

Be Bold. Take Action. Act with Courage.

Because now is the time for bold visionaries to lead.
